What to Expect

  • ProGibb SG will increase pasture DM production within three weeks of application.
  • In commercial demonstrations of ProGibb SG over a 3 year period, increases in dry matter ranged between 30 and 60%.
  • Applying ProGibb SG to freshly grazed pasture stimulates cell expansion. This results in rapid foliage growth occurring for between 3 to 4 weeks after application.
  • The amount of dry matter production is dependent on the amount of available soil moisture and nutrients needed to sustain the accelerated growth.

Getting the best from ProGibb SG

  • Application is well suited to rotational grazing systems
  • ProGibb SG performs best in high producing ‘clean’ pastures
  • ProGibb SG should not be applied to pastures during establishment. The pasture needs to have developed it root system to such a degree to allow the plant to sustain the additional growth.
  • ProGibb SG should not be applied to pastures containing rank growth. Ideally the ProGibb application should follow grazing or cutting that would eliminate rank growth

Independent Review

In 2009, Nufarm NZ (who distribute ProGibb SG in NZ) asked an independent expert to review all their data on ProGibb SG. Dr Edmeades says after reviewing all the research data on ProGibb SG, he can’t fault Nufarm’s science process to date. He also said "It is reasonable to conclude from this data that ProGibb SG when applied at the recommended rate within 0 – 5 days following grazing will increase relative pasture production by 36% on average with a range of 12% to 63%, providing the pasture is utilised within 40 – 50 days following application."
